“Rumi - Poet of the Heart” is a fifty-five runt documentary that introduces us to the work of Persian poet Jelaluddin Rumi. This is accomplished through an intimate dialog with Coleman Barks, his English language translator. The work also features the narration of actress Debra Winger and sensitive observations by scholars such as Huston Smith, Robert Bly, Simone Fattal, Deepak Chopra and the Sufi mystic Sheik Jelaluddin Loras.

The first fifteen minutes of the video recount the biography of Rumi, who was born in Afghanistan during the year 1207. Rumi’s family moved to Turkey, where his father became the head of an Islamic Sufi learning community. Upon his father’s death, Rumi took his plot as the head of this frail community of prayer.

Rumi eventually met with a desert mystic named Shams of Tabriz and mentored under him for a number of years. The misfortune that Rumi felt, upon the death of Shams, led to the birth of his poetry of longing and also to the creation of the Whirling Dervish dance tradition.

The tale of how Coleman Barks came to his decades-long project as translator of Rumi’s Persian texts is then revealed. We notice recording sessions where Mr. Barks reads from his acclaimed translations of the poet. These sessions are often accompanied with musical instrumentation such as the oud, harmonium, dotar, tabla, violin, ney and sarod. Video talks by the various scholars, which were often shot within comely natural settings, are interspersed among the studio sessions. All of these elements combine to suggest both the tone and the meaning of Rumi’s poetry.

“Rumi - Poet of the Heart” is a devotional work that gently guides viewers through an introduction to the life and spirit of one of America’s most widely read poets. Join with Coleman Barks and company to notice Rumi’s compelling inner secret world. You will be transformed through their intoxicating spirit of contagious enthusiasm.

A incredible DVD for lovers of Rumi’s poetry. The photography is blooming, the interviews very educational, and the suited poetry readings, enlightening! Highly recommended for inquisitive spiritual souls as well as for all poetry lovers.

Defending Your Life is one of the smartest, funniest, and current films to approach out of the 1990s. Albert Brooks, playing both gradual and in front of the camera, does a extraordinary job of creating this “courtroom drama” space in Purgatory. By keeping a the films themes short and simple, enticing us with colorful performances by Meryl Streep and Rip Torn, and bringing a right sense of fantasy to this narrate, Brooks keeps us curved from the opening scenes until the last. Panned by most critics, I actually found this film to be extremely witty with a Wes Anderson-esque type of dry martini humor. Brooks is easily able to transform himself into a likeable “every man” that finds himself defending his “normal” life. What works is that it feels and seems like your beget life. Brooks’ character isn’t a superhero, he isn’t a genius (only using 3% of his brain), and he isn’t a playboy, he is your average human on the street. Makes decent money, celebrates being alone, objective bought a current BMW, and is coasting through life rather simply. Sound like anyone you may know? Brooks creates this sensation that Judgment City could exist, that the trials of your life could happen, and within all of this chaos and confusion, esteem could emerge.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Defending Your Life! Click Here

Albert Brooks is a very brilliant writer. He wouldn’t obtain your typical Hollywood fancy fable and send it through the recycling machine. His come to adore in this film is totally random, somewhat sporadic, but yet honestly valid. There is a mystery between he and Meryl Streep’s relationship. That is what I loved so worthy about them. Typically in films of this nature you have this explain tale of how two people meet, they tumble in admire, they fight, and suddenly observe that their passion is stronger than ever before (normally due to some unforeseen … or clichéd moment), but not in this film. Brooks approaches worship as if it already exists. He hints towards the concept that these two may have been in Judgment City before, that maybe they have already had their awkward courtship, that maybe the climactic cliché has already happened, and now they are impartial rediscovering themselves. Brooks sets this up with Streep’s first lines, which are simply, “Haven’t we met before? ” While this may not seem like it is that lively, the fact that they are in Judgment City after dying, and two random people discover each other is heartwarming. I was immediately attached to these two characters from the moment they met in the Comedy Club. Their emotions didn’t seem created by Hollywood, but instead created by the shining craftsmanship of Brooks’ words. If you aren’t connected to the courtroom antics of this film, than the spark that Streep creates with Brooks will surely retain you grounded for well-behaved.

I would also like to applaud Brooks for his ability to accomplish a whole unusual world from the inside out. Objective as confused as Brooks is when he first arrives to Judgment City, we are forced to scrutinize this creative world through his eyes, and he is not skittish to reveal his attention to detail. The opinion of food in this film kept me laughing long after the final credits rolled. The scene in the Italian restaurant with the waiter and the pies ranks among one of the funniest scenes in a film. In fact, as I type this review, I am level-headed laughing about it. His creative mind also allowed us to deem the possibility of reincarnation and the existence of bigger and better worlds. He plants us in Judgment City, but doesn’t leave us there. He allows us to move while making us feel comfortable, thus keeping a smile on our faces throughout the entire visit. He makes us laugh, either through his contain words, or through that of Rip Torn, who nearly stole every scene possible. As I continue to survey more of Rip Torn’s work, I am beginning to gape that he is quite a versatile actor that has very deep comedic roots. If it wasn’t the instant connection between Streep and Brooks that kept this film glued together, than it definitely was the charisma of Rip Torn in the courtroom.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Defending Your Life! Click Here

Finally, I would like to say that watching this film in a post-Matrix universe, there are some challenging parallels between the two. When Rip Torn is talking about allowing humans to go through to another life, or sending them relieve to Earth, he references the universe to a machine. Again, living in a post-Matrix world, this immediately darkened the film and perked up my ears. I know this may be grabbing at thin air, but the scene in the Matrix when Cypher is talking about how first-rate the machine makes his steak taste, eerily reminded me of all the food former in this film. There were several other moments objective like this that fair seemed to fit rather snug. Whether you fill it or not, I possess the Wachowski brothers may have watched this film once or twice before creating their prized trilogy.

Overall, I view this was an outstanding film. From the instant character excitement to the originality of the script, I conception that this was one of Brooks’ best outings. The fact that you could say that the cast was honestly having a valid time in every scene, that you laughed when they laughed (which was quite a bit in this film), and that you could actually relish a witty comedy without guns or violence impressed me. Brooks has such a animated humor that I cannot wait to revisit this movie to accept some of the lines that I may have missed the first time. Streep does a sensational job, while Rip Torn steals every scene he is in. Impressive to say the least, and am elated that the 90s were able to earn one fresh fraction of comedy.

Grade: ***** out of *****

This movie is astonishing! It gives you that comfortable easy feeling that so very few films can really exclaim without being fraudulent in some arrangement. Meryl Streep shines as Julia, the sparkling woman of Albert Brook’s dreams. She is so down to earth that we all drop in savor with her. I worship the subtlety of this characterize. I like the well filled out characters that populate the film My celebrated is the waiter at the Italian restaurant, he is so humorous! Whoever said that this film has incredible attention to detail is lawful. You can notice this film ten times (and I have!), and behold something unusual every time. It is also inspirational, in addition to being laughable. Dread is our worst enemy. It keeps us from the things we savor, it bogs us down with trivialities and leads to an ultimately meaningless life. This film explores these themes with a light touch. Also, if you are looking for a film with no sex, no staunch violence, and very detached language, this is the one for you. This film is terrific, it is in my top 5 celebrated movies list. I highly recommend it!
Gamefly Free Trial
Electronic Cigarettes Starter Kit
How To Raise Credit Score
Designer Handbags At Wholesale
Electronic Cigarette Review

Like most baby boomers, I’ve watched this film dozens of times in the past on broadcast TV, then VHS tape, then LaserDisc … but I had never actually SEEN “The Wizard of Oz” until this newly restored DVD came out. It’s an extraordinary transfer. The sepia-tone Kansas sequences are startlingly piquant and positive, and the Technicolored world “Over the Rainbow” is truly graceful. I found myself fascinated by details I had never noticed before: the glittering corn stalks in the Scarecrow’s field; the mirror-like floors of the Emerald City; the polished buttons on the guardsmen’s uniforms. Incredibly, even the individual grains of red sand in the Witch’s hourglass stood out and glistened! All these minor-but-sumptuous visual details served to heighten the magical spell that the film has always woven, enhancing the performances, the anecdote, and the music.

The DVD extras are a mind-boggling embarrassment of riches. The “Making Of” documentary hosted by the incomparable Angela Lansbury is worth the effect of the DVD alone, but there’s so grand more: an international poster gallery, interviews with cast members, deleted scenes, production stills, radio clips, etc, etc. There’s enough material to hold even the most casual viewer fascinated for hours, and a apt Oz buff will be occupied for days!

If you only bought a DVD player to peer this one disc, it would well be worth the expense. Treat yourself, and plunge in esteem with this classic film again … for the first time.

I was unprejudiced critized for foisting off the following review of the 3-disk DVD place as a review of the unique Blu-ray. I didn’t; Amazon did. As anyone who’s been here for a while will watch, Amazon throws all DVD reviews into the same bucket, regardless of the edition. So don’t blame me.

There’s no need to discuss “The Wizard of Oz” itself, a classic among classics (though I’ll have something to say about its “philosophy” later on) . You probably want to know whether the UltraResolution transfer justifies the pick.

It does. Oh, yes it does.

“The Wizard of Oz” has always looked beneficial, one of the better Technicolor films. Unlike “Gone With the Wind”, which was generally unlit and desaturated, and which UltraResolution greatly improved, I didn’t interrogate worthy enhancement for “Oz”.

Was I ever faulty. I stared with my jaw hanging start. “Oz” is the best UltraResolution transfer by far — and the others were not exactly chopped liver.

The improvement in detail and sharpness is startling, especially as the modern prints did not seem obviously lacking in either. Even more astounding is the expansion of the tonal scale. Dusky scenes (particularly those in the forest and outside the “witches” castle) are now filled with rich detail. Have you ever noticed how stunning the Winkies’ red, white, and gray uniforms are? I hadn’t — until now.

These enhancements combine execute the biggest improvement of all — a major revelation of _texture_. The “feltiness” of many costumes is clear. The burlap of the Scarecrow’s face is now plainly visible, particularly in the close-up where he misstates the Pythagorean Theorem. And the Lion’s costume is a thick pile of fur you want to come out and stroke. You can eye every last strand of hair.

I’m exaggerating only slightly when I say the improvements of this UltraResolution transfer are not distinguished less than those from cleaning the Sistine Chapel’s frescos. It’s as if layers of murk and grime — that you never even knew were there! — have been stripped away. Until you opinion it, you cannot imagine what this film (that is, the unique camera negatives) _really_ looks like. It’s a shame the people who created “Oz” never got to survey it this device.

The image quality is so high that I often felt as if I were looking through a window at live performers. (Well, almost.) No matter what versions you already have, you won’t be disappointed with this one. I watched it twice in two days, and I might even conception it a third time tonight.

My only quibble is that several matte paintings do not blend properly, because the hues at the join lines do not match those of the scene. This could have been fixed; I suspect it seemed too worthy work for a cramped improvement. (A friend suggested that these sorts of things are left in because videophiles delight in finding them.)

As to the differences between the two- and three-disk sets… The latter includes a packet of modern programs and promotional material of the sort we haven’t seen in 40 years ago. (Remember the 50-cent deluxe programs for road-show films? ) There’s also a position of 10 reproductions of Kodachrome publicity photographs. For this viewer, these extras alone elaborate the higher notice.

The third disk will be of most interest to lovers of all things Oz. It includes a handsomely produced biography of L. Frank Baum (sharp enough that you might want to examine it more than once), plus all the restful Oz films and a Technicolor Oz cartoon. The existence of these is celebrated to anyone familiar with the history of Oz productions, but they’ve never appeared (as far as I know) in any home-video format.

The films are problematic. The two from Baum’s production company are the best — they have style, charm, and imagination. The others are cheesy ripoffs that believe microscopic relation to the fresh book. The Larry Semon — a once wildly-popular but now virtually forgotten cartoonist and comical * — version is especially inappropriate, as it is shrimp more than a vehicle for Semon’s stamp of physical comedy. The Baum estate is at least partly to blame — _any_ movie version must have seemed more shapely than none, especially as the technology to construct a convincing version of “Oz” would not exist for another 15 years.

The film’s opening titles praise the book’s “sterling philosophy”, which seems to be either “You already have everything you need to be delighted”, or “The respond to your problems lies within yourself”. These are not so noteworthy “good” as reflections of the hard-nosed “All your problems are your believe fault” and “If you’re not a success, it’s because you’re slothful” homilies that grew out of the ample opportunity for personal development and material success this country offered.

I enjoy L. Frank Baum had something a bit different in mind. “The Wizard of Oz” is a fairy anecdote in which magic has no bearing on the issues at the center of the memoir. I have Baum wanted to discourage children from fantasizing that magic could be a solution to one’s problems.

So… he has the four principals originate a grueling roam to the Emerald City, then acquire the wizard is a humbug. (What a shame the blander “untrue”, “fraud”, or “phony” have replaced that enjoyable word.) He posesses no magic to supply wit, savor, or grit, which the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion have demonstrated they already have.

Baum’s “factual” is simple — Worship, wisdom, and courage are what we need to earn through life. No one can _give_ them to us, because we _already_ contain them, and all we need to do is yell them.

“Is that legal? ”

“That’s all it is.”

Now… the interrogate you’ve been waiting for the acknowledge to… Is the Blu-ray residence worth the trace?

I viewed the Blu-ray on a Pioneer 60″ Pro Kuro, fed from a Sony BDP-S550. I also watched the DVD on the Pioneer (fed from the same Blu-ray player), and on a 36″ Sony 400-series WEGA “improved definition” TV (fed from a Sony DVP-S7000) .

The DVD remains a terrific DVD, and looks terrific on a high-quality 480i monitor. (Look the preceding review.) It was, and smooth is, a demo-quality DVD.

When played on the BD player, and upconverted to 1080p, the DVD’s image on the Kuro is ravishing darn beneficial — the sharpness and detail are at least “acceptable”. But when you play the Blu-ray disk, the image goes from “acceptable” to almost-startling. Two examples… Impress the enhanced detail and texture in the weather-beaten wood above the WWE’s dead legs. And in the crowd scenes, you can look (impartial about) every Munchkin face. There is virtually no smearing of detail.

So… should you bustle factual out in a buying frenzy and earn the BD edition? It depends.

The DVD is gracious enough for an pleasurable report on a high-quality SD monitor. But even upconverted, it isn’t respectable enough for a _large_ HD present. If you have, say, a 40″ display; your BD player has a safe upconverter (not all do) ; and you don’t sit “on top of” the conceal (as I do) ; you might ogle limited contrast between the DVD and the Blu-ray.

But if you’re a video fuss-budget (as I am) and sit closer than the “experts” recommend (why _shouldn’t_ you? ), you will almost certainly acquire the Blu-ray. It’s your call.

A few remarks on the extras… The wristwatch, as the kid in the Ally bank commercial says, is a portion of junk. The do shows no particular style, wit, or imagination. And as others have said, “The Dreamer of OZ” is a discouraged transfer, very badly unpconverted to 1080. It is not of acceptable quality, and should have been set aside on the DVD disk.

I will reach assist later (I hope) with some more comments on the sound and the other extras. Forcing yourself to repeatedly scrutinize tremendous chunks of a movie, regardless of its quality, is an ennervating experience.
Smokeless Cigarettes
Smokeless Cigarette
Gamefly Trial
Raise Credit Score
Electric Cigarette

One by one, the earlier four incarnations of the Doctor are being plucked out of the space-time continuum, and placed into the dreaded Death Zone. Originally feeble by the Time Lords for organizing gladiatorial matches between various races, Rassilon closed the Death Zone, and forbade the employ of the Time Scoop. So, who is doing this, and more importantly, why? It’s up to the Doctor (all of them) to figure it out.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Doctor Who - The Five Doctors! Click Here

This movie is a “Who-ite’s” dream. Four of the five Doctors are display, with Richard Hurndall performing very well as the formidable first Doctor. Many companions appear, including Turlough, Tegan, Susan (the Doctor’s Granddaughter), Sarah Jane, the Brigadier, Mike Yates, Liz Shaw, Jamie, Zoe, and K-9. Plus, of course, the Master (played by Anthony Ainley) . It is a shame that Tom Baker refused to be alive to in this production, but he is reasonably represented by scenes taken from the never-completed episode Shada.

I recommend this movie absolutely to any fan of Doctor Who.

This 20th anniversary special is corny, essentially plotless and designed to cram in as many Doctors, companions and monsters as possible within 90 minutes. Level-headed, you’ve got to hand it to them - they did a bang-up job for a exhibit with a forever-fluctuating cast list (most notably our aged buddy Tom Baker, who turned the project down before filming and got replaced by some traditional footage) . “The Five Doctors” is a fun romp down memory lane, and as such happens to be one of the very best ways to bring fresh fans into the reveal (hey, it worked for me) .

So why did we exactly need a “special edition”? No, the visual effects aren’t especially spacious, but they never were on “Doctor Who.” The additional scenes, while though-provoking, are mostly pointless additions that add nothing to the space. Probably the best changes in the Special Edition are a cramped rearrangement of events (which makes the epic fling a cramped better) and some improved lightning effects. Not enough to clarify a “Special Edition,” for positive.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Doctor Who - The Five Doctors! Click Here

It’s worth recognizing, though, that the modern version of “The Five Doctors” will probably be released one day, and in the meantime, this really isn’t a abominable disc (certainly not the worst of the Place 1 line, by a long shot) . Possibly where it disappoints the most is in the video department. The relate suffers from a lot of grain (especially in the outdoor sequences) ; while a critical step above the video, it pales in comparison to other ’80s-era Who stories on DVD. The 5.1 soundtrack, on the other hand, is quite nice indeed.

Admittedly the “Who’s Who” biographies are a bit sparing, but the half-hour of isolated musical pick up is a gigantic inclusion. Without a doubt, though, the best extra on the disc is the commentary with Peter Davison and Terrance Dicks, which was recorded especially for the Station 1 release. It remains one of the two or three best commentaries for the “Who” DVDs yet. Davison and Dicks compose a stout team, both taking a jovial attitude towards proceedings. Since this disc’s release, Peter Davison has proven himself an invaluable commentator on other stories; I would very remarkable like to hear from Terrance Dicks again.

The tale is a vast plot to accumulate current fans into your accepted series, and the commentary alone makes the disc worth a seasoned fan’s recall.
Increasing Credit Score
How To Increase Credit Score
Electric Cigarette
Lumosity Free Brain Training
How To Raise Your Credit Score

On to the 2 original features.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Doors! Click Here

The Doors in L.A. - 20 little feature; Robbie Krieger, John Densmore, (yaaay!), Jimmy Greenspoon, and Pamela Des Barres are the prominent interviews on camera here. Nothing earth shattering, but it’s nice to see/hear John Densmore’s abridged opinions.

The Jim Morrison Phenomena in Paris - it’s intriguing. You’ve got a handful of people who met JDM in Paris and hung out; they picture his mood and what he was (arguably) saying at the time. There’s a French librarian who breaks down a lot of the parallels in the subtleties of the lyrics w/Greek literature. There’s a somewhat annoying 20 something saying Jim was done with music and The Doors and blah, blah, blah that isn’t substantiated w/anything. There is an interview w/Michelle Rudler, who is listed as “Coroner” who says lots of things were done corrupt in the documentation of Morrison’s death. It’s about 50 minutes.

All of the extras on the Special Edition are here as well.

So in conclusion, if you are looking to capture The Doors movie on DVD, by Oliver Stone, this is the one to accumulate. The movie is captivating enough but, you know, it’s fictional and not historically factual enough to garner more than 3 stars from this reviewer.

‘The Doors’ were one of the greatest rock and roll bands of the sixties and the quintessential California group of the decade. They so embodied the West Glide counterculture experience that viewing this biographical film about Jim Morrison and The Doors also provides a inspiring belief of the cultural and spiritual forces that drove Jim and that entire generation to challenge the dwelling quo of the American mainstream.

What exactly is the upright myth of the life and death of Jim Morrison? Is it the chronicle of one of the many rebellious young adults of the time who in looking for an alternative intention of living got lost along the plan in the drugs, alcohol and sexual freedom that so dominated that culture? Or is Jims’ myth a deeply mystical epic announcing the rebirth of aged shamanism into the collective consciousness of the twentieth century? The fable of someone chosen by the spirits to bring the ‘old ways’ to a modern generation looking for something to maintain the spiritual void brought about by the loss of plan in the Christian God?

Director Oliver Stone has played the mythmaker to perfection in this incredible film providing us with the modern experience of entering into the American Dreamtime. Layering mundane worldly events intermitently with glimpses of the psychic, shamanic forces motivating those events we are given the opportunity to chose for ourselves what level of reality we are willing, or ready to come by. A truly much accomplishment.

As for the performance of Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison, it couldn’t have been better. His ability to buy both the physcial appearance and black persona of the legendary rock star so completely is beyond fantastic. Without query Val was born to play this role.

Did Jim really gain he was the “Electric Shaman” called by the spirits to originate the “Doors of Perception” to a sleeping world? Was he Dionysus reborn, here to exhaust his suggestive music and lyrics to madden his followers and bring to fruition his recent ‘Rites of Spring’ with “Golden copulations in the streets of L.A.” More likely he was playing the allotment of the mischevious Indian ‘Trickster’ leading us once again in the unfavorable direction. Maybe it’s unprejudiced like his Mother said long ago while the old-fashioned Indian lay dying along the roadside in the California desert. “It’s impartial a dream Jimmy, that’s all it is.”

So relax, display no alarm, “Kiss the Snake” and appreciate the perambulate!
Electronic Cigarettes Starter Kit
Electric Cigarette
Electric Cigarette
Electric Cigarette Review
Small Business Telephone System

The thing that immediately impressed me about “The Next Doctor” was that you don’t necessarily have to be a long-time fan to like it. But for those viewers who ARE faithful followers of the traveling Time Lord (myself included), it’s a delicate combination of elements that have traditionally worked in Doctor Who stories. The episode is beefy of action, humor, pathos, better-than-average performances, and a sense of wonder that has long been missing from t.v. science fiction.

[SPOILERS AHEAD] The Doctor is elated to acquire himself in Victorian England at Christmastime. He is soon surprised, however, to encounter another fellow claiming to be “the one, the only, the best” Doctor. With his maintain companion, sonic screwdriver (sort of) and TARDIS (a fabulous twist which I refuse to spoil), this Doctor is man with some crucial memories missing. What the Loyal Doctor finds out about this mystery man is tragic yet keen, and touches on the whole history of the series. Oh, and did I mention the Cybermen are on-hand as well?

The entire production is gracious, from the gorgeously-realized snowy streets to the impressive spectacle of the Cyber King on the march. Guest star David Morrisey is so pleasurable in his role, you almost wish he WAS the next Doctor. And like the best of the fresh episodes, the resolution is both satisfying and leaves you wanting to survey more.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Doctor Who: The Next Doctor! Click Here

As with the season sets, “The Next Doctor” includes an hour-long documentary on the production. These “Doctor Who Confidential” programs are fairly breezy and informative, and are certainly a welcome addition for hardcore fans. Casual viewers may fetch the race time a bit long. . .after all, with an hour to demolish they might simply rob to gawk another episode!

I have no doubt that BBC will eventually release all the one-off specials featuring David Tennant in a box location when all is said and done. But if you can’t wait, “The Next Doctor” is a perfect draw to pass the time.

… and it’s not a evil yarn. I’ve seen worse.

Plus, most of the Christmas specials are filled with fluff anyway, in keeping with the holiday spirit. That being said, this legend is a fun bit of Christmas cheer, although it lacks depth on some levels, but I’ll quiet line it up with the other Christmas specials for Christmas morning viewing. I will say though, I plan the Cyber-Shades were kind of creepy and I hope they bring them aid at some point. On the other hand, the Cyber-King “ship” was a bit too remarkable on the cheesy side for me, and while I first relished the character of Ms. Hartigan, she completely crashed and burned into the cheese fest.

Another thing that stirred the bee in my bonnet was the Rosita character, and I’m going to say something that a lot of people ~ especially fans of the original series ~ won’t like: Enough with Rose Tyler, already! I mean, reach on. Bleeding hearts of the world unite! Enough with the references, the inferences, the parallels, the longing, the tragedy of it all, etc. The writers, including Russell T. Davies, whom I happen to actually fancy, being a writer myself, have beat this like a dreary horse and to a bloody pulp. Yes, we know the Doctor has large affection for her; yes, we know he can never be with her, but let’s depart on. Please.

It’s for this reason that I am really anxious for Steven Moffat to grasp the reins of the series ~ and in a design, I’m pleased there’s a recent Doctor. I treasure David Tennant and I contemplate he’s been absolutely luminous ~ legal up there with, if not surpassing, Tom Baker ~ but this whole, galactic playboy thing (as further evidenced in Planet of the Tedious) is wearing thin. The character of the Doctor is NOT Captain Kirk and he is NOT about romantic baggage, thank you very distinguished ~ and I’m saying that as a chick, who initially loved the character of Rose and her deeper friendship with the Doctor. It was different than the classic series, with a microscopic more humanity thrown in, instead of the frosty, androgynous, teacher-student, master-apprentice dynamic. But enough.

There, I said it. I feel grand better now.

On the upside, David Morrissey’s portrayal of “The Doctor” was quite fun to glance as a romanticized, chivalrous version of our popular Time Lord, and some of his dialogue and interaction with the proper Doctor was thrilling, thinking that this might honest be a future version him, with memories lost. Alas, ’twas not meant to be, which is kind of a bummer, because I assume Morrissey would have made a tall eleventh Doctor.

On the whole, though, it’s a fun petite frolic ~ not on the A-list, but rather on the B-list, in the canon of the Whoniverse. But like I said, I’ve seen worse, and as we tick down the days and months to David Tennant’s departure, I do feel a sure sadness. He’s been MY Doctor of the revived series, impartial like Baker was in the classic, even though I loved Christopher Eccleston, too, and I will be gloomy when Tennant leaves.

But hey! Viva la Doctor! As one chapter ends, another begins. And that’s what the Doctor’s legend is all about!
Wedding Album Design
Virtual Phone Number
Increasing Credit Score
Electric Cigarette

“Somewhere out there, beneath the pale moonlight,” there must be a better non-Disney-animated film. NAAAAAAAAH! An American Tail is animator and director Don Bluth’s best work to date. The memoir of a young Russian mouse being swept out to sea while on a voyage with his family to America unexcited holds up very well, even (GASP!) 15 years after the film’s theatrical debut. (Wow, I’m getting extinct!) Fortunately the young mouse, whose name is Fievel, washes up alive and well on Original York Harbor. From there, he sets off on a crawl to rep his family. But it may be more difficult than he anticipated once he comes across the “two-faced” villain Warren T. Rat (voiced to perfection by John Finnegan) and the city’s many other dangers that could threaten his quest.

As stated before, An American Tail is very nicely tantalizing, and the fabulous soundtrack, collected by James Horner, gives the movie a timeless quality that is one of the reasons why it stands the test of time. Each character is also perfectly voiced. Fair to name a few of these talents, Philip Glasser is the jabber of Fievel, Dom DeLuise is Tiger the cat, Amy Green is Fievel’s sister, Tanya, and as mentioned before, John Finnegan is Warren T. Rat. The songs are also brilliantly performed, the best of which is the classic “Somewhere Out There,” beautifully sung during the film by Fievel and Tanya, and again during the waste credits by Linda Ronstadt.

All in all, An American Tail is an enduring and heartwarming film that will be embraced by everyone who’s young at heart. And so it is to these people that I highly recommend this film. And if you relish it, I also recommend viewing the sequel, An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. It’s every bit as sterling.

Since I have already written a review encourage in spring of 2001 that touches on the brilliance of this sharp care for, this review will focus primarily on the newly released DVD of the film.

Buy,Download, Or Stream An American Tail! Click Here

I for one, was certainly thrilled to learn that Universal was finally giving Fievel the coveted DVD treatment, and anticipated its release on the format each day since. Yes, features are scarce, and yes, the film is presented in pudgy frame only, but the method I seek it, having An American Tail on DVD at all is a milestone for me, since it is a title I have yearned for since the early days of the format. Do not bag me snide, I am a VERY strong supporter of unique aspect ratio on home video, but An American Tail is not exactly a film that cries out for the anamorphic widescreen treatment. In this case, its omission does not really detract from the experience. But then again, maybe I am being slightly biased about this film, having seen it once as child, loved it, and becoming twisted on it ever since.

As far as the represent quality is concerned, aside from the image being elephantine frame, I was actually rather impressed. I was not expecting the image to be quite so crisp and sure. There were a few more speckles of film dirt then I opinion should have been there, but for a film nearing twenty years passe, it was unruffled a well-behaved deal better than I was expecting. Clarity was most definitely improved over the VHS versions, and colors were strong and nice-looking.

The sound is also glorious gigantic. I listened to the DTS 5.1 soundtrack on my surround system, and it is, without a doubt, the best I have ever heard this film. However, those of you who have seen American Tail numerous times over (as I have) are traipse to peek changes in some of the dialogue as compared to past video releases. In teh opening titles, for example, as we reach the Mousewitz home, laughter is now heard inside the humans’ cottage where, on the VHS release, all that can be heard is James Horner’s soundtrack. Also, modern or never-before-heard of dialogue have been spliced into the film throughtout. Th emost noteable instances of this are during the scenes when Fievel is trapped in a birdcage, crying, unbiased before he meets Tiger. Also, when the cats are being anchored up onto the ship headed for Hong Kong, Warren T. now utters an additional line from offscreen, which I will leave you to peep. Anyone who has seen the film a safe many times is hasten to examine these changes.

Buy,Download, Or Stream An American Tail! Click Here

While this altered/re-dubbed dialogue does not neccesarily wound the film, it is collected fine to interrogate why these changes were needed. Perhaps Universal felt the need to offer something fresh to DVD buyers who would be purchasing this film again? There is no sense in correcting something that was never broken to start with. Be that as it may, the changes do not consume away from one’s enjoyment of the film, or certainly not mine, at least.

Bottom line, American Tail lovers who are not particularly picky about aspect ratio should secure this DVD well worth acquring . Like I said, I am expansive on widescreen myself, but in this case, found the movie too irresistable to turn down, especially at its rude list tag. Beefy frame and re-recorded dialogue aside, An American Tail is smooth the classic that it was nearly 20 years ago. So grasp it before you are stuck trying to net an out-of-print copy “somwhere out there.”
Raise Your Credit Score
Increase Your Credit Score
Small Business Phone Systems
Gamefly Trial
Small Business Telephone System

Disney’s last hand-drawn feature isn’t a Disney film at all; it’s an attempt to create a Warner Brothers Looney Tune feature, which is as dismal an ruin to Disney’s legacy as I can contemplate of. To abandon all that made the studio vast and try to ape another’s success is a certain heed of management’s faithlessness in Disney’s legacy.

Things open off well enough when a decidedly unlucky rabbit continually gets into ever more hilarious situations (getting bustle over by a wagon wheel, stuck by a cactus, bitten by a snake, you accept the belief) . It was the one moment in the film where the audience as a whole was laughing. But after this sequence, I only heard sporadic chuckles.

Although the snappily stir and simplistic narrative accurately mimic the Looney Tunes shorts, the characters aren’t nearly as absorbing. None have charisma of Bugs, Daffy or even Pepe Le Peu. Without strong characters the comedy comes off hollow and didn’t bear my (nor the audiences’ it seemed) interest. The film is a brisk 71 minutes or so, but I was looking at my peep anyways. Someone sitting next to me even fell asleep!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Home on the Range! Click Here

There seems to be a general lack of imagination in this film. The one exception being the completely unexpected plot in which the cows are being stolen. It’s a spacious plan that had the potential to be classic moment in Disney animation, but feels roped in, constipated, as if the filmmakers were worried to trust the concept and let it guide the action.

Young children will mostly be pleased this film while it lasts but it’s clear to be forgotten soon afterward. There are a few jokes that are meant for older audiences, but it’s not enough to fabricate a lasting impression. This film will be best enjoyed on DVD as a babysitter.

I am in that period of my life where I am watching a lot of children’s programming. The tendency is to commence to impose my enjoy adult tastes on these children’s movies. I assume this is because the bar has been raised with Shrek and other movies that plant plenty of jokes for the parents.

The jam with Home on the Range is the adult jokes are unprejudiced mildly droll. The joke does not as considerable obtain you laugh as it makes you say to yourself, “Oh yes, they are trying to compose me laugh. Cute.”

Well guess what, that does not really matter. I have a four year obsolete runt girl that loves horses and a two year venerable boy who loves whatever his sister loves. They talk about that movie non-stop. And they have only seen it twice!

Heaven befriend me. When the DVD comes out, I will explore it another 2…hundred times!!

Bottom line. The people who should like this movie do, not some grown-up reviewing kid’s movies with the same scrutiny of a Sundance entry.
Electric Cigarette Review
Designer Handbags At Wholesale
How To Increase Credit Score
Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes
Wholesale Designer Handbags

The put a question to for this complex and unique film is whether writer-director Charlie Kaufman’s artistic ambition will ultimately frustrate viewer patience. When I saw the film, a couple in front of me walked out halfway through. You will probably esteem or despise this film; reviews have been sharply divided.

Philip Seymour Hofmann stars as Caden Cotard, a theater director mired in all the midlife crises, actual and imagined, of body, mind and spirit. The film begins conventionally enough, or so it seems, but there are telltale signs early-on that Kaufman is going to play with reality itself — a cartoon on the family TV features Caden as a character, and a realtor walks a client through a house that is permanemtly on fire. Those are two ominous metaphors.

The giveway is that the name “Cotard” bears a striking resemblance to that of the French postmodernist Jean-Francois Lyotard. We shouldn’t be surprised when Caden quits his career doing theater among the “blue hairs” in suburban Schenectady, Recent York, where his latest production was “Death of a Salesman,” and with the relieve of a MacArthur genius grant (a cruel irony given his circumstances) moves to a cavernous warehouse in Novel York City and recreates his confused life through what eventually becomes a cast of hundreds of characters. Yes, life is a stage and we’re the actors.

In his book The Post-Modern Condition (1979), Lyotard made (in) notorious the idea of “incredulity toward meta-narrrative,” a love scheme of saying that there are no truly universal or absolute meanings or truths in life, and that all meaning is a personal or social construction. This is exactly what Caden tries to do — he creates meaning in his life through characters who report his life. He keeps changing the name of the play, one of which is “Simulacrum” (= an insubstantial semblance of something) . He keeps saying that he “finally” knows how he wants to instruct the play. Indeed, the play is never finished but is instead a building project that piles floor upon floor of sets; it never ends. For Kaufman there’s a very thin line between authenticity and absurdity, salubrious reality and mere representation, living life and playing roles, healthy self-awareness (however painful) and oppressive self-consciousness, and between factual life and determined death.

Does Caden’s wretchedness to beget even the barest micro-meaning originate any sense? The last line of the movie offers a glimmer of hope. Maybe.

The first thing I would like to point out is that it will be disliked by a lot of people at first, but later be loved by many unbiased like Citizen Kane. Don’t fill me? You can either 1) read Ebert’s review, or 2) wait and glimpse for yourself.

Synecdoche, Modern York isn’t only the best movie of the year, but it is the best movie that Charlie Kaufman has written to date. It’s a film that everyone needs to witness more than once to secure what he is trying to say. There are scenes that is impossible to know if they are valid or objective a dream. Time moves at a different hotfoot and you never really know where you’re at. But the most titillating fraction of the movie lies with the purpose of the writing; Charlie Kaufman wanted to write a dread movie. And not unprejudiced any typical genre film, but things that horror him. He puts the terror of being alone, of dying by a random cause, of being rejected in everything that you do. Kaufman does such a valid job writing for Caden that you open to feel his damage, to feel his fright. That is moral talent. The movie isn’t made to awe you, rather Kaufman wanted to do something unusual with the fright genre. [...]

If you haven’t seen the movie yet don’t go to the dwelling. It has spoilers galore. Aside from the writing, the direction and the acting is phenomenal, especially the performance given by Philip Seymour Hoffman. It fair goes to exhibit you that the Oscars really do overlook some of the best movies of the year. Once you salvage into the movie there is no escaping it until it is over.
How To Raise Credit Score
Raise Credit Score
How To Increase Credit Score
Electric Cigarette

This BBC series is fabulous and we highly recommend them for adults and children who are alive to in prehistoric life. My kids are enthralled with these creatures and — at 5 and 3 years archaic — can rattle off their multi-syllabic names with ease! Overall a astonishing learning experience.

Caution: Some violent or scary images in the natural world, as well as mating scenes, which are brief. One episode deals with the evolution of man in a method that may conflict with your beliefs.

When people mediate of Earth’s past, it is usually the dinosaur age of which they mediate. They tend to forget the fact that the Earth has a sizable history of which that Age was only a miniature portion. This encompasses that piece of history often glossed over in favor of the rise of humans, and the very unique and inspiring creatures that existed even before we arrived and existed with us for a time before going worn. While we might remember the Wooly Ample, the Cave Hold and the Saber-toothed Cat, We don’t remember the Hyenadon or the Intelidont, or the Gastornis, the monster bird that ate early horses. This is a scramble into a topsy turvey world that is strangely racy and fills in that gap between the Dinosaurs-and us.
Smokeless Cigarette
Small Business Phone System
Increasing Credit Score
Electric Cigarette Review
